How a driverless Car sees the world

In the video he talks about the difference between assisted cars and driverless cars. Assisted cars only alert the driver and there needs to be a driver controlling the car, however, a driverless car doesn't need a driver and works completely hands free.  He also talked about the benefits and what these new cars. They will make people safer and are effective. The cars react well and do well.
I wonder what would happen if someone hacked into the car.
I also wonder what would happen if your car glitched and the car started driving towards a cliff.
